I've been working on a side project off and on over the past few months. It's really slow going, as I only work on it when I have time (and remember to), but it's coming along, slowly but surely. The biggest roadblock I have when starting a project of this sort is coming up with a good story. I had an idea pop into my head one day (day after my birthday, matter o' fact), so I sat down and wrote out a quick outline. This prompted me to keep going with it, so the next step I took was to draw out a storyboard. This took quite a while, as I would get bored with it for a few days, then draw a panel or two, then get bored, and so on and so forth. But finally I finished drawing it out, and now have begun working on prop elements.
The style I'm wanting to go for is sort of a steampunk meets sci-fi noir. As you can see from the image below, the spaceship is modeled after the vehicles from the 1920s, but modified to be able to travel in air and space (probably will make use of forcefields).
I'll try to update this here blog periodically as I go, but as I mentioned, it's a very slow-going process, as I'm the only one working on it.
Here's the storyboard, and you can see a few renders of the spaceship below.
